SAILING
COURSES
In addition to
catamaran hire we conduct sailing courses for those who want to learn more about
the finer art of sailing.
Run
in conjunction with our two local Community Colleges (Central Coast and
Tuggerah Lakes) our 6 week sailing courses are an ideal way to learn how to sail
without the rigorous requirements often set by larger sailing fraternities.
Sailing
lessons are run each weekend for six weeks. Participants can choose either the
Saturday or Sunday course for the six weekends. Classes start at 10.00am and
continue until around 1.00pm (approx 3 hours every week). Each week consists of
basic theory and predominantly practical 'on the water' sailing with hands on
tuition. On the final week of the course students participate in their own
mini-regatta followed by awards presentation and a family BBQ.
The
course offers both theory and practical lessons in sailing Catamarans on the
inland waterways of Tuggerah
Lake using 4.0mtr Maricats
and all safety equipment provided.
At
the end of the course students are able to prepare the craft for sailing, sail
single-handed and in pairs on a set route in safe boating conditions and be able
to recover the craft in an emergency.
